The Empire Grill A unique dining experience
The Empire Grill has quickly become a local favorite since owners Tom Miller & Kerry Pomelow took over. While reclaiming a major filming site of the HBO movie Empire Falls, they created a diner menu that is a notch above. The Grill serves top quality food with fresh and local ingredients. The menu includes homemade meals, soups, deserts, breads and all day breakfast. Extra treats include hand-crafted cappuccinos, espressos and free WiFi for those who tote their laptop along with them.

The Empire Grill was created during the 2003 filming of the HBO movie Empire Falls, adapted from Maine author Richard Russo's book of the same name. For several months Paul Newman, Ed Harris, Joanne Woodward, Helen Hunt; along with several supporting cast members, succeeded in captivating Skowhegan. When the cameras stopped, the stars went home, the extras went back to regular jobs and the Empire Grill remained and drifted back to an ordinary existence as a local eating shop, shorn of movie props.
